This is the fifth consecutive year Landstar has ranked among the publication's "500 Leading Innovative Companies."

For 16 years, InformationWeek has tracked the IT practices of the nation's most innovative organizations. According to the magazine, IT efficiency, corporate-accountability practices, and new business strategies distinguish this year's most innovative companies.

Landstar ranked among the industry leaders in the Logistics and Transportation category. Landstar's 7,700-plus business capacity owners (BCOs) which supply the company with the equipment used to haul freight, along with a nationwide network of nearly 1,000 independent sales agents, use the company's Web site to choose freight, perform administrative functions and make other business decisions.
