(Nasdaq: LSTR), a safety-first non-asset based provider of transportation capacity and logistics services, announced today that Landstar Chief Information Officer Larry Thomas has been recognized as one of the business world's 2006 Premier 100 IT Leaders by Computerworld magazine. The award honors executives who show exemplary leadership utilizing technology to provide business solutions to their organizations.

According to Computerworld, Thomas was selected from nearly 600 nominees, who were evaluated by the publication's editors and an external panel of judges. Nominees were then measured against the publication's IT Leadership Index -- a set of characteristics that describes executives who guide the effective use of IT in their organizations.

"Each honoree from this year's class has demonstrated how technology can be used effectively, and oftentimes creatively, to positively impact the organization for the long term," said Computerworld Editor-in-Chief Don Tenant.

Thomas, who will be honored at a black-tie ceremony in March, is the third Landstar executive to be named to the prestigious list of IT leaders since its inception in 2001.

Thomas joined Landstar in 1994 as Director of Information Services at one of its subsidiaries in Madisonville, Kentucky. In 2000, Thomas was named Vice President of Research and Development for Landstar System Holdings, Inc. and relocated to Jacksonville, Florida. The following year he was promoted to Vice President and Chief Information Officer.
