JACKSONVILLE, Fla., June 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Landstar System, Inc. (Nasdaq: LSTR), a safety-first non-asset-based provider of transportation capacity, announced today the appointment of Michael Kneller to Landstar Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary reporting directly to Landstar President and CEO Henry Gerkens. Kneller replaces Dennis Owen, who is stepping down to pursue other interests.

As Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, Kneller will be responsible for all of the company's legal matters as well as Human Resources and Corporate Communications.

Kneller comes to Landstar from the New York law firm of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP. He earned his undergraduate degree at Yale University and his Law degree from Stanford University. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.

Kneller and his wife Andrea are relocating to Jacksonville.
