Jim Applegate
Jim Applegate serves as Chief Corporate Sales, Strategy and Specialized Freight Officer. He is responsible for Landstar’s corporate sales efforts, strategic growth initiatives, specialized freight offerings and business development. He also works closely with other Landstar leaders to ensure developing technologies meet the business needs of independent Landstar agents and capacity providers in serving customer needs for transportation logistics services.
Since joining Landstar in 2009, Mr. Applegate served as a vice president in various sales roles, including business development, business solutions and corporate sales until his promotion to Executive Vice President of Business Development and Analysis in 2014. He was promoted to his most recent role of Executive Vice President of Business Intelligence and Strategy in 2016.
Mr. Applegate holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Wayne State University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Detroit Mercy. He also completed the Owner/President Management Program with Harvard Business School.
He and his wife, Michelle, live in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and have three adult children.
